There is no question about the negative connotation the the business world has created against compliance. In this episode, Tim Flanagan and Ed Faas have a conversation about growing a compliant culture with a relationship first approach. The foundation of how they take a relationship first approach is by growing trust and providing educational opportunities for advisors.
Most people look at compliance as the police writing a speeding ticket, while Ed refers to compliance as a body guard protecting you and guiding you out of harms way. Ed goes into deeper detail on that topic while explaining that his team a protection agency for advisors.
Always doing the right thing isn’t necessarily the most popular thing, but it is the important thing for the long term. The most important thing is building trust and getting advisors to realize that what may be easy or popular is not always in their best interest.
